MOVENPICK ELEPHANTINE ISLAND
The Movenpick Elephantine Island (beautifully renovated in 2008) is situated on its own island in the Nile and a 5-minute boat ride by hotel ferries to the centre of Aswan. It’s a photographer’s and bird watcher’s delight, and the sight of the mighty river making its way through the large granite outcrops at this First Cataract is one that will stay with you always. The hotel’s very spacious rooms all offer spectacular Nile views and all have A/C, direct-dial phone, internet access, satellite TV, mini-bar, in room safe, and hair dryer as their basic amenities, along with warm, stylish furnishings reflecting the gold for which Ancient Nubia was prized in the time of the pharaohs.
Dining at a Movenpick hotel or resort is always a wonderful experience, and the main restaurant, L’Orangerie features an open show kitchen where you can watch the chefs perform. Also unique is the Panorama Bar on top of the 14th floor Tower with a 360 degree view of the Nile and Aswan.
With impeccable service and its welcoming atmosphere, the Movenpick Elephantine Island is a gracious and comfortable location from which to enjoy Aswan, Egypt’s most beautiful city.
SOFITEL LEGEND OLD CATARACT HOTEL ASWAN
Recently reopened we are pleased to be able to offer this classic, historic hotel again.
First constructed by the famous tour operator, Thomas Cooke, it has since played hosts to royalty, Sir Winston Churchill, Jimmy Carter and many many more. Famously Agatha Christie formulated some of the famous Death on the Nile whilst staying here.
It is an upgrade worth considering for sure, as it really is a hotel and museum and in the same class as the Mena House and the Old Winter Palace. The view of the cataracts, Elephantine Island, the edge of the Sahara just across the river makes it one of the worlds best located hotels.
