Jordan Survey Private Tour Itinerary
Trip Itinerary
Day 1 You are met at Queen Alia Airport Amman, and assisted on arrival with customs and with Jordanian Visa processing . To Petra for overnight.
Day 2 Breakfast. You have a full day exploring the ancient Nabataean capital, with entry by the Siq and visits to the Khazneh, Theater, Colonnaded Street, Museum and ad-Deir, Petra’s largest carved façade. Overnight Petra (B)
Day 3 Breakfast. Second full day in Petra, with alternate entry by al-Madras “secret road” and visits to High Place of Sacrifice, Wadi Farasa, Great Temple, Byzantine Church and Royal Tombs. Overnight Petra. (B)
Day 4 Breakfast. Tour the Mont Real Crusader Castle in Shobak. Continue north along the scenic King’s Highway, with a stop to enjoy the spectacular scenery at the Dhana Guest House, overlooking Wadi Finan and the Dhana Nature Reserve. Drive through Wadi Hasa to visit the massive Karak Crusader Castle, towering high above the southern end of the Dead Sea. Descend to Wadi Araba, route of the ancient spice caravans, and drive north through the floor of the Great Rift Valley along the eastern shoreline of the Dead Sea, lowest point on the earth’s surface. Arrive early afternoon to your Dead Sea resort for leisure time and overnight with breakfast. (B)
Day 5 Breakfast. Drive up to Mt. Nebo, the site from which it is believed that Moses saw the Promised Land. The contemporary Nebo church displays the restored mosaics from a succession of pilgrimage churches which have occupied this venerated spot. Nearby Madaba, an archbishopric during the Byzantine era, is home to the world’s largest collection of ancient mosaics. See the famous Century mosaic map of the Holy Land in the St. George Church. Transfer to Jerash to tour the world’s best-preserved Roman provincial city, including visits to the Southern Theater, Cardo, Forum, Temple of Artemis and Byzantine church. Finish your visit in a truly Roman fashion—join the crowd in the actual Roman Hippodrome to watch the RACE performance (Roman Army and Chariot Experience)—a demonstration of Roman Army weapons and tactics, gladiator contests and an exciting 7-lap chariot race in the Hippodrome. Overnight Amman with breakfast. (B)
